Connecting the Head and Heart: Gender Physics and the Six Stilletto Steps

I’ve made lots of changes in my life. Gaining and losing 100 pounds twice, working as a beer rep, belly dancer, teacher, and corporate executive… it’s been an exciting ride, full of ups and downs. As I’ve analyzed my successes and where I’ve found fulfillment, it always comes back to the same few concepts. Because we teach what we most need to learn, I’ve described them here, as a reminder to myself, and in the hopes that you will find some magic in them as well. It’s all about connecting to the head and the heart….

1) Understand the two energies…

Masculine Energy is the force of action. When a man or woman is focused on accomplishing things in the outside world, he or she is using masculine energy. Men, who tend to be independent and assertive, usually exhibit this energy of the head more than women. Mel Gibson’s character in Braveheart – action-oriented and protective – is a good example of a person with a lot of masculine energy.

Feminine Energy is relaxed. Men or women who are content to just “be” are accessing feminine energy. Reflective and intuitive, they connect emotionally with others and draw them out. Concerned about relationships and their inner world, women typically demonstrate this collaborative and consensual energy of the heart more than men. Oprah’s empathy with others is a good example.

2)
Use them both equally…

People who use both energies equally, with an easy flow between them, have connected their heads and hearts and they enjoy good Gender Physics. They view these energies as complimentary, seeing no downside to either. Open to the attributes of each, they are able to use whichever energy is most appropriate for any situation. As a result, they have the ability to create good relationships and then turn them into transactions. With these greater achievements they’ll have more personal and professional fulfillment and higher self-esteem. Great leaders who win the hearts and minds of the people, such as Nelson Mandela, exemplify good Gender Physics.

3) Balance brings benefits…

In this balanced state of good Gender Physics, thoughts, emotions, and the resulting actions flow easily back and forth between the two energies as individuals calibrate which energy is appropriate for a given situation. It creates the right environment for recipients to experience their “Effortless Energy.” They find themselves “in the flow” as things come easily to them. Their openness allows them to “do what they were meant to do” as they express their true talent, life force, and special gift. Those in this state will have greater results from less input as their actions  in the outside world are aligned with who they are inside.

4) Take the Six Stilletto Steps…

To experience good Gender Physics and find your Effortless Energy, take the Six Stilletto Steps, which I developed based on my experiences as a woman seeking to make peace with weight, work, and wealth. Each step is balanced between both energies, and by taking them you can create this same balance inside yourself. Start by being aware of internal and external signals. Then practice compassion to accept yourself and courage as you dare to be different. After that it’s important to find external support for your internal value system and arm yourself with tools to reconnect you with it on your journey. Know that you will be tested, but that you are equipped to handle it. Finally, enjoy the celebration of your success with laughter and gratitude!

Are you as enthused as I am about the possibilities?
