Womentorship at the Edwards School of Business
As a woman in the male-dominated corporate world, Betty-Ann needed the support of mentors who advocated on her behalf and gave her valuable advice as she climbed the corporate ladder. Later in her career she became a mentor herself, dispensing valuable advice to young women in her company who were facing the same challenges that she once faced.
Having experienced the value of mentorship, she established the Betty-Ann
Heggie Womentorship Program, a joint effort with the Edwards School
of Business (ESB) that aims to support the advancement of women in
business. The program pairs protégés - University of Saskatchewan
alumni - with Womentors with 5-10 years or more of senior professional
experience. Through these partnerships, protégés receive mentoring,
coaching, professional development, networking, and scholarship opportunities.
In 2010, she partnered with ESB to expand this program to include
women in Afghanistan.
